Future of Space Launch

Since we are trying to develop a next gen payload launch system at Swarna Kush Technologies, it is imperative that we understand what the future demand for space launches will be like in the next few decades. So let's take a deep dive into this.

First off, the fully reusable rocket (Starship) being developed by Spacex will have the biggest impact to the industry - launching 100 tons per launch and reusing it after some checkup and maintenance - could bring the cost of launch from $2700/Kg to about $100 to $200/Kg.

This would open the gate to a whole new segment of entities that will be able to access space and do a whole new set of activities never performed at scale before due to the prohibitive levels of mass needed to be launched to get them started. Examples of these being:

  1. Asteroid mining (a multi trillion dollar opportunity)

  2. Settlement/colonization of Moon and Mars

  3. Space based manufacturing

  4. Spin gravity space habitats

  5. Space tourism

  6. Space debris clearance

All of these endeavors will require millions of tons of payload to be launched into space annually. Most of this payload being in the form of propellant (used to provide ∆v for travel from low earth orbit) and structural material needed to construct infrastructure in space/ Mars/ Moon.

Starship will likely be able to meet this demand with a few rockets being launched from multiple launch sites and rapidly reused - easily serving the eventual market demand for millions of tons per year payload launch requirement.

This will be good for the Space Launch Tube system (being developed by SwarnaKush Technologies) as it will need to launch at least a few 100 thousand tons of payload annually to be financially feasible. The total launch market will then have to be over a million tons per year in order for the Space Launch Tube system to capture a portion of that market to begin with.
